The idea for The Story of Your Life on Film grew from a simple act of love: filming my own family. What began years ago as an instinct to preserve my mother’s and grandparents’ voices soon revealed something deeper: the power of storytelling to connect generations, to make sense of a life, and to keep memory alive.
That experience sparked a desire to help others do the same: to honor their journey and pass on their wisdom to future generations. Since then, our work has grown into a dedicated and intimate practice of listening and filmmaking, devoted to helping others capture the essence of their own stories.
At the heart of this work lies the process of discovering and documenting a life story with nuance and depth. To ensure each film is both intimate and enduring, we bring to it the same patience and dedication we give to our own autobiographical films and works for cinema.
Each film begins with conversation: gentle, unhurried, and deeply personal. We listen, ask, and observe. From these moments, we weave together a cinematic portrait that reflects the richness of a life: its humor, resilience, tenderness, and truth. Though every story is unique, what we witness time and again is the same: how speaking one’s truth can lead to something profound — a way of honoring all that has been lived.
In an age that moves quickly and forgets easily, creating personal film memoirs feels like an act of care — connecting us across generations through the richness of lived experience.
With gratitude to all who have entrusted us with their stories. Each encounter deepens our understanding of what it means to live, remember, and be remembered.

Janos D Tedeschi (b. 1983, Switzerland) is a filmmaker, biographer, and artistic researcher whose work bridges poetic documentary, oral history, and personal storytelling. His feature-length films have received sustained support from major European arts institutions, most recently Inventing the In-Between, created with filmmaker Christof Schaefer and featuring actress Miriam Goldschmidt and legendary theater director Peter Brook.
Raised and educated in international settings, Janos went on to study composition and process design before completing postgraduate research at the Netherlands Film Academy. There he developed his distinctive approach to filmmaking — one that seeks to translate the invisible: memory, emotion, transformation. His films look beyond facts and events to reveal the subtle inner worlds of image and feeling that shape a life from within.
Over the years, he has developed a distinctive practice grounded in empathic listening and artistic precision — qualities that have made him a trusted collaborator on film, art, and literary projects. These same sensibilities guide his private film memoir practice, The Story of Your Life on Film, through which he creates intimate, bespoke documentaries that honor the lives, voices, and legacies of individuals and families.
